Looking for dedicated SPS Members to lead SPS Committees through 2022!
If you are looking for a way to become more involved in the Society and have a few hours each month, we invite you to consider volunteering for the following Chair or Committee positions:
Best Practice Committee: Looking for one chair; can accept additional Committee members
The Best Practice Committee is charged with providing the Society focus and perspective on scientific, technological, ethical and regulatory issues that are pivotal to the practice of safety pharmacology. The Committee identifies current and potential future issues that impact the field and warrant action by the Society. The goal of these activities is to better serve the interests of the membership by 1) influencing issue resolutions, 2) positioning the Society so it is recognized as a resource for establishing guidelines and policy, and 3) collaborating with other societies and regulatory officials to harmonize best practices and maximize regulatory influence. The Best Practice Committee will establish subcommittees to address specific topics and draft “Best Practices”.
Membership Committee: Looking for one chair and 2-4 additional committee members
SPS membership is designed to be inclusive, extending membership to all sectors (e.g. pharmaceutical, biotech, service and technology providers, regulators, academic, non-pharmaceutical industry) and covering all stages of a member’s career cycle (Student to Retirement). The Membership committee is charged with focusing on how best to create value for all membership types throughout the year, including recruitment and retention efforts.
Regulatory Working Group: Looking for one chair; can accept additional Committee members
The Regulatory Working Group is charged with fostering partnerships/relationships with regulatory agencies and developing educational content on regulatory issues and of interest to regulatory agencies worldwide.
Training & Education Committee: Looking for one chair; can accept additional Committee members
The SPS Board of Directors has identified Education as one of the core values for the Society. The primary responsibility of the Committee is to identify opportunities for training and education for safety pharmacologists outside our annual meeting. Education and Training opportunities can include, webinars, online education, masterclasses, modular courses, regional meetings, workshops and more! The Committee should provide safety pharmacologists at all levels with opportunities to develop flexible skillsets and wide-ranging knowledge to ensure applicability of their roles in a changing environment. The Committee is encouraged to facilitate partnerships with other professional societies and international organizations to foster collaborative, translational education opportunities. Activity for this committee is year-round, depending on the number activities and timing of education.
We thank you in advance for your time!
