The Safety Pharmacology Society is pleased to invite you to a webinar presentation on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11:00 EDT/16:00 BST.

Title: Mass Spectrometry Imaging for Safety Pharmacology / Drug R&D

Presenter: Berta Cillero Pastor, PhD, IMS CORE lab leader, Maastricht Multimodal Molecular Imaging institute (M4i), Maastricht, The Netherlands

Description:
Mass spectrometry imaging allows the detection of thousands of different compounds in a single experiment while maintaining their spatial location. It is a powerful tool to study the pharmacological/toxicological effects of drugs in tissue sections at single cell resolution. In this webinar an overview of mass spectrometry imaging and its use in the fields of drug development and toxicology will be presented.

Biography of speaker:
Berta Cillero Pastor was born in Santiago de Compostela. She studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She obtained her PhD in 2009 at the INIBIC Insitute of La Coruña on the effect of cytokines in chondrocyte mitochondrial proteins by using mass spectrometry. She moved then to Amsterdam with her own fellowship to work at Ron Heeren´s lab at AMOLF to employ Mass Spectrometry Imaging for biomedical applications. Currently she is the CORE lab leader of the Division of Imaging Mass Spectrometry at M4i, Maastricht University.

Moderators:
Tessa de Korte, MSc, Ncardia and Pieter-Jan Guns, Associate Professor, Universiteit Antwerpen.
